It is absolutely essential, whether we are controlling a single ship or a portion of the fleet, to learn how to make the most of the thrust and maneuver controls. Additionally, some faction fleets only perform at their best over a certain range (close for Orks and as far away as possible for Aeldari for example), making them highly ineffective, if not downright harmless, if they engage at the wrong distance. In dealing with an opposing formation we will always have to take into account the range and our main weapons and, consequently, also the engagement distance of individual ships or an entire group, so as to optimize the risk / offensive capacity ratio. A Nova Cannon will have a very different range of action than a Macro Cannon or Melting Torpedoes. The armaments in Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 are many and different from each other, even between units of the same faction. Keeping in mind the main objectives also allows us to plan a possible split of our fleet, in case we deem it useful to guard two or more portions of the map at the same time. Sometimes it is not even possible to do it, despite all our skill! It therefore becomes essential to never lose sight of the specific objectives of the current mission, always reported in the top right and which are constantly updated by our cogitator based on what is happening at the moment. In battle, completely destroying the opposing fleet is certainly a guarantee of victory, but often this is not the safest way, much less the easiest way to triumph.
